National Student Clearinghouse Data Breach Update
July 26, 2023 — As previously announced on July 7, 2023, the University was notified by the National Student Clearinghouse that UofM data could be involved in a data breach caused by a vulnerability in the MOVEit system. Since then, the UofM has been notified by additional vendors they may have been impacted. Because many educational institutions use the same vendors, this breach extends beyond the UofM and likely involves data from other institutions where our students or employees may have attended or worked. It is possible that those affected may receive multiple communications from vendors such as the National Student Clearinghouse, TIAA and Pension Benefits Information (PBI). Vendors will be contacting affected individuals directly to provide more information.
