UofM to Hold Summer Commencement August 3

July 31, 2024 — The University of Memphis will hold its summer commencement ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Renasant Convention Center in Downtown Memphis with 671 students receiving a degree or certificate.  

Of those, 373 are students earning an undergraduate degree, while 179 students will be receiving their master’s or specialist degree. A total of 58 certificates will be handed out. Two people will receive their juris doctor and 59 people will earn their doctorate degree. DeAnna Owens-Mosby, a tenured associate professor who has been at the UofM for 12 years, is this summer’s commencement speaker. Holding a doctorate in educational leadership, she currently serves as president of the Faculty Senate and has been elected president of the Tennessee University Faculty Senate for 2024-2025.  

The commencement ceremony starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Seating is limited, and printed tickets are required to attend. Graduates should be in line by 9:30 a.m. and guests should be seated at 9:45 a.m. For information on commencement guidelines including Renasant Convention Center details, visit memphis.edu/commencement/.
