UofM Panelists to Address the Question 'Does My Vote Matter?’  

Practical information to be shared about making informed choices this election 

October 16, 2024 — The University of Memphis McWherter Library, in collaboration with the Helen Hardin Honors College, will hold a moderated discussion panel entitled "Does My Vote Matter?" this Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4-5 p.m.  

UofM faculty members featured on the panel include:  

  • Ebony Dawkins, Associate Professor of Teaching, Political Science; College of Arts and Sciences  
  • Dr. Andre E. Johnson, Professor of Rhetoric and Media Studies; College of Communication and Fine   
  • Otis Sanford, Professor Emeritus, Journalism and Strategic Media; College of Communication and Fine Arts   

Carl Hess, Undergraduate Success Librarian and Assistant Professor of the University Libraries, will moderate the discussion.  

The panel members will discuss the U.S. electoral system and the role each person can play in determining the country’s collective future. The panel’s presenters, from various fields, will provide practical information about how to make informed choices in this year’s election.  

This free event is open to the public and will be in person and online. A reception will begin at 3:30 p.m. before the discussion begins. The panel is sponsored by the University Libraries and the Helen Hardin Honors College
