Hundreds of students from our academic programs have successfully entered careers in nonprofit and government agencies in Memphis, the Mid-South, and beyond. Through our extensive network of relationships with nonprofits and government agencies, we help students make the connections they need to jump-start their careers.
Dr. Beth Gillespie has been selected as an Academic Research Fellow at the Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis.
The Hooks Institute is a premier center for scholars working on race and social justice scholarship. The Academic Research Fellows Program fulfills the Hooks Institute's mission of teaching, studying, and promoting civil rights and social change. Academic Fellows with the Hooks Institute will serve for two years and are expected to contribute to the Hooks Institute's visibility.
Congratulations to Dr. Joe Hafer on receiving a Faculty Research Grant for his project titled "Exploring Public Value Perceptions of State and Local Government."
Dr. Hafer was one of 15 successful proposals chosen by the College of Arts & Sciences review panelists. The Dean awards CAS Research Grants upon recommendation by the Area Review Committees. Criteria used in evaluating proposals include: project and budget justification, significance of project, appropriateness of project design and methods, qualifications of the applicant for implementing the project, probability of achieving project objective, appropriateness of the schedule for project activities, and plans for dissemination of research results. Congratulations and best wishes for a successful project!
