B.E.S.T.I.E. Group Program

Body Empowerment and Satisfaction Through Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating

Do you struggle with body image, weight concerns, or an unhealthy relationship with food? Our 6-week B.E.S.T.I.E. (Body Empowerment and Satisfaction Through Intuitive Eating) program offers a research-based approach to improving your health through the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating. This program provides tools to help you ditch food rules, honor your natural body cues, and foster deeper body wisdom for better mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Trade the stress of dieting for a lifestyle of freedom and satisfying eating. We encourage you to bring a "bestie" (whether a friend, partner, or roommate) to experience a supportive environment for better accountability. Make peace with food and embrace a happier, more empowered relationship with food, mind, and body!

Frequently Asked Questions

Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based, self-care eating framework with over 200 research studies to date. Founded by dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995, it has been a revolutionary approach to helping individuals reject diet culture norms and reclaim body trust while developing a healthier relationship with food. Some benefits of practicing Intuitive Eating include improved body image, lower levels of depression and anxiety, improved cardiometabolic health, and decreased disordered eating patterns. You can find more information about Intuitive Eating here.

This program is ideal for anyone who is ready to take actionable steps toward long-term improvement in their relationship with food in a group setting. It will work best if you are ready to shift your focus off dieting for weight loss and toward rejecting the diet mentality through sustainable, health-promoting behaviors.

Please contact Julia Noel, our registered dietitian and Director of Nutrition Services, if you have any of the following conditions: limited food access, an active eating disorder, a medical condition that requires individualized nutrition therapy (diabetes, severe food allergies, gastrointestinal disease, etc.), or a condition that significantly limits your ability to feel your body’s internal hunger and fullness cues.

No; the B.E.S.T.I.E. group program focuses on helping you use the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to feel empowered through body acceptance, improved well-being, and health-promoting behaviors. This program also endorses the principles of Health At Every Size®.

To get the most out of the workshop, participants are encouraged to attend the entire 6-week group program and stay for the duration of each. However, we understand that attending all 6 sessions in full may be difficult for some, so we will accommodate participation at whatever capacity works best for you. If you are unable to attend a session and want to obtain details from the missed workshop, please email Julia Noel (jnoel@memphis.edu).

We only offer in-person sessions at this time.

We only accept full online payments with a debit or credit card via the registration link above. No refunds will be provided after the start of the program. If you have additional questions about payment, please email Julia Noel (jnoel@memphis.edu).

You are not required to come with anyone to participate in the program. We just want to make the program more accessible and comfortable to help you get the most out of the experience.

We understand that food, body image, dieting, weight, and other related topics can feel very sensitive and private for many. We offer free, confidential nutrition consultations for UofM students and members if you prefer to speak 1-on-1 with our registered dietitian.
