Daisy Prince Visits Memphis This Weekend

The University of Memphis Department of Theatre and Dance is delighted to welcome Daisy Prince, the award-winning New York director, performer,
and educator whose Broadway and Off-Broadway career has included major collaborations
with composer Jason Robert Brown. The daughter of legendary Broadway director and
producer Harold Prince, Daisy has forged an acclaimed career of her own directing
and developing new American musical theatre.
She will join our Theatre & Dance students this weekend for a series of special guest-artist
events — beginning with a public onstage conversation and Q&A Saturday evening on
our Mainstage.

Everyone is invited.
Daisy will talk about her life and career in the professional theatre, her work as
a director and artist, the development of new musicals, and what it takes to build
and sustain a successful life in the theatre. She’ll also take questions from students
and audience members.
BFA Musical Theatre and Acting students and MFA Directors: attendance is required.

Musical Theatre Audition Workshop
Lab Theatre
Daisy will conduct an audition workshop with our Musical Theatre students. MT majors
are required to attend, and other Theatre & Dance students are welcome to sit in.
About Daisy Prince
Daisy Prince is an award-winning New York-based director and performer whose work
spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, new musical development, and education. She has had
a longstanding creative collaboration with Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist
Jason Robert Brown, whose works include Parade, The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World, The Bridges of Madison County, and 13.
Daisy directed the original New York productions of Songs for a New World and The
Last Five Years. Most recently, she conceived and directed The Connector at MCC Theater
Off-Broadway, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Jonathan Marc
Sherman. The Connector was nominated for the 2024 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical, and Daisy received
nominations for Outstanding Direction of a Musical from both the Drama Desk Awards
and the Outer Critics Circle Awards.
She also teaches in Syracuse University’s Tepper Semester, an intensive New York City
program preparing advanced theatre and musical theatre students for professional careers.
