Production Facilities and Equipment

The Department of Communication & Film provides students with access to professional production facilities and industry-standard equipment that support every stage of the filmmaking process. From introductory production courses through advanced graduate projects, students gain hands-on experience using the same technologies and creative spaces found in professional media environments.


Production Equipment

Students have access to a variety of production equipment designed to support narrative, documentary, studio, and digital media projects, including:

  • High-definition digital video cameras
  • 16mm motion picture cameras
  • Professional lighting packages
  • Professional sound recording equipment

Editing & Post-Production

Students complete post-production work using dedicated editing and audio facilities, including:

  • Non-linear video editing stations with Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Film editing rooms
  • Audio laboratories equipped with Avid Pro Tools digital workstations

Television Studio & Creative Labs

Students also have access to specialized production spaces throughout the College of Communication and Fine Arts, including:

  • A fully equipped television studio
  • A 24-track digital recording studio
  • A computer graphics lab

These facilities provide opportunities to develop skills in television production, audio recording, post-production, and digital media creation.


Graduate Student Spaces

Graduate students have access to dedicated spaces that support collaboration, research, and day-to-day academic work.

Graduate Study Center (ACB 142)

The Graduate Study Center provides a shared workspace featuring:

  • Desks and collaborative work areas
  • Private offices for Graduate Assistants
  • Computer workstations and printing
  • Wireless internet access
  • Storage lockers
  • Microwave and refrigerator
  • Shared space for meals, meetings, and collaboration

Department Library (ACB 309)

Graduate seminars are frequently held in the Department Library, which houses:

  • Nearly 2,000 books in communication and rhetoric
  • Alumni master's theses and doctoral dissertations
  • Collaborative seminar space for graduate courses

Equipment Checkout & Facility Reservations

Students enrolled in Film and Video Production courses may check out production equipment and reserve department facilities to support coursework and approved projects.
