Başak Çermikli Ayvaz works at the intersection of critical applied linguistics and teacher education, exploring how multilingual pre-service teachers come to understand language, power, and their own place in linguistically diverse schools. Her research on critical multilingual awareness, translanguaging, and language teacher identity has been published in Teaching and Teacher Education, TESOL Journal and edited volumes. She is currently co-editing a volume on multilingualism in English language teacher education. Her experience in English language teaching and teacher education spans two decades across Türkiye and the United States.
