Herff College of Engineering
Bringing Herff to new borders
Dean Okoli and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs & Administration Dr. Amy de Jongh Curry completed a transfer agreement with Bermuda College in October, getting even more than they bargained for out of their island adventure
The agreement with Bermuda College, a two-year college similar to community colleges in the United States, creates a pathway for engineering students to earn a degree at the Herff College of Engineering after completing their associate’s degree at Bermuda College. The agreement pertains to all Bachelor of Science engineering degree programs at the University of Memphis. Dean Okoli and the Herff College of Engineering look forward to welcoming the Bermuda College students.
Dean Okoli and Dr. Curry also met with a power company based in Bermuda to discuss the possibility of the company providing scholarships for Bermuda College students interested in Engineering Technology.
After completing business, Dean Okoli and Dr. Curry unintentionally extend their stay in Bermuda. On October 2, Hurricane Imelda brought 90 mph winds and heavy rain to the island’s southern coast. Though they were forced to depart a couple of days later than expected, Dean Okoli and Dr. Curry returned to the University of Memphis with a transfer agreement in place with Bermuda College.
