Memphis native talent finds purpose through research at the Herff College of Engineering
Through the VIP program at the Herff College of Engineering and enrolling in the Honor's College, Gerrell Dabbs was able to transform his love of computers into a passion for research.

Transportation Department Awards $2 Million to Commercial Driving Safety Research Project
The University of Memphis Center for Transportation Innovation, Education and Research (C-TIER) has been awarded $2 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to research high-risk work zones in order to create safer work environments for commercial drivers and commercial driving vehicles (CMV). The project is being led by C-TIER’s Director Dr. Sabya Mishra.

University of Memphis Launches New Bachelor of Applied Science Program to Meet Workforce Demand
The University of Memphis has received approval from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) to launch a new Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree, expanding opportunities for students seeking careers in high-demand technical and leadership fields.

David Adaway knew he wanted to pursue a career in computer engineering before he ever graduated from Marion High School in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and he knew he didn't need to go far to find a college that would help him achieve that goal.

Herff College of Engineering is proud to announce the expansion of its annual Herff Awards, a longstanding tradition that celebrates excellence within the college's faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This year, the College is broadening this important initiative to honor members of the internal Herff community and distinguished leaders and alumni whose professional achievements and service have made a lasting impact on engineering and society.

The Herff College of Engineering proudly hosted the American Society for Engineering Education Southeastern Conference March 8-10 at the University of Memphis.

We Work the Waterways
The Herff College of Engineering is excited to host We Work the Waterways and welcome STEM students from across the Mid-South on Friday, April 10.
The organization helps high school students explore maritime career pathways. Industry reps will also be in attendance, including USACE who will bring a boat and their survey equipment.

Vertically Integrated Projects Day
The Herff College of Engineering will host its second annual Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Day on Friday, April 17. The “UofM-VIP Program” project adapts, implements, researches, and evaluates the Vertically-Integrated Projects (VIP) model, a transformative approach to enhancing higher education be engaging undergraduate and graduate students in ambitious, long-term, large-scale, multidisciplinary project teams that are led by faculty, at the UofM.
