The University of Memphis Student Chapter of the Literacy Association of Tennessee (UMSCLAT) is part of the Literacy Association of Tennessee whichpromotes a literate society by bringing together a network of people dedicated to sharing knowledge and information about literacy through programs and services. 

What do students do as members?

As members of the organization, students engage in a variety of activities to promote literacy in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Such activities include fundraising, organizing outreach programs, hosting book fairs, and volunteering with local schools.

Who can join?

All University of Memphis students are welcome to join.  

Why should I join?

UMSCLAT is committed to promoting literacy through service and programming. Members increase community engagement and gain leadership and collaboration skills in the field of literacy.
