About the Library
The Lambuth Library is located in Jackson, TN, on the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus and is a branch of the University of Memphis Libraries. All policies are in accordance with UofM University Libraries policies.
Three floors of the library are currently open for use.
- The main level includes the Learning Commons, the regular circulating collection (A-E), Leisure Reading collection, Lambuth History collection, Reference collection, Media collection, 10 student-use computers linked to printers (black&white or color), and a community-user computer (available to the public). A KIC scanner is available in the Learning Commons for scanning books and other items. Course reserves, laptops, STEM kits, and other electronic equipment may be requested at the checkout desk. A separate Family Room on the main level consists of the Juvenile collection and a student-use computer.
- The second level offers the general circulating collection (F-Z), Young Adult collection, three group study rooms, a Presentation Studio, and quiet zones for individual study.
- The lower level features the Treasure Room showcasing former Lieutenant Governor John S. Wilder's office collection, Lambuth history archive displays, vending machines, and a large classroom.
Directional signs are posted in the stairwells for patron convenience.
Utilizing their campus ID card, UofM faculty, students, and staff have access to check out all circulating items in the collection and other items in the University Libraries collection either electronically or through an InterLibrary Loan. Community users may sign up for a community user card to check out books from the Lambuth collection. Local educators may sign up for a special community user card that also gives them access to check out STEM kits made available at Lambuth through the West TN STEM Hub.
Reference services are provided by the campus librarian and library assistants who are available to answer library-related questions and instruction to patrons in using the online catalog and other electronic resources. The staff at the Lambuth Library are always happy to help!
