Dr. Jemima Neddy Organ is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Memphis's Fogelman College of Business and Economics, where she teaches Strategic Management and Global Strategic Management. She holds a PhD in Organizational Information and Learning Sciences from the University of New Mexico, with a focus on Organization Development, and brings over twenty-seven years of experience spanning counseling, training, and organizational leadership.
Original Scholarly Contribution, Motivational Interviewing & Servant Leadership: Jemima completed the first doctoral dissertation examining Motivational Interviewing as a tool for servant leadership, with doctoral study. Jemima was trained on Motivational Interviewing by Dr. William R. Miller, co-founder of Motivational Interviewing, at the University of New Mexico. Recognized as one of the first researchers to synthesize Motivational Interviewing and servant leadership frameworks, training practitioners and studying outcomes among program participants.
Her impact extends beyond the classroom. Dr. Organ conceived and led development of a national adolescent behavior-change curriculum adopted by the Kenyan Ministry of Education, reaching more than one million students, and initiated the legislation that established counseling as a regulated profession in Kenya. Earlier in her career, she was a featured guest and host on major Kenyan and international broadcast outlets, including the BBC, Nation Media Group, and Citizen TV, educating the public on childhood trauma, parenting, and mental health. She is co-author of the forthcoming book Bringing Servant-Leadership to Life with Motivational Interviewing, featuring a foreword by Dr. Miller.
Dr. Organ is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Colorado and an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee.
