The University of Memphis Institute for Arts and Health will host a symposium on connecting mind and body to bring healing through the arts on Monday, May 1 from 1-6 p.m. at the UofM’s Humphreys Theatre Building, Main Stage, located at 3745 Central Ave. Admission is free and open to the public.

University of Memphis Receives Pair of Medical Patents

The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) within the Division of Research & Innovation has received notifications of two issued patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patents are a result of research from faculty within the Herff College of Engineering. The first issued patent focuses on the prevention of inflammation, with the second focused on fluorescence microscopy.

UofM LambuthUofM Lambuth to Host Spring Music Concert at the HPAC Auditorium on Tuesday

The UofM Lambuth will host its Spring Music Concert at the HPAC Auditorium on campus on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Students will perform a variety of original songs as well as some well-established cover numbers. Dr. Jeremy Tubbs and Dr. Jenna McLean have worked with these talented students all year to prepare them well for the world of music performance.

University of Memphis to Receive $5.488 Million for Campus Safety & Security from the State of Tennessee

The University of Memphis will receive $5.488 million earmarked for campus safety and security upgrades this fiscal year after Gov. Bill Lee’s recommendation passed the State of Tennessee Legislature Wednesday at the State Capitol.

Mike Rose Aquatics CenterUniversity of Memphis to Hold Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Mike Rose Aquatics Center

The University of Memphis will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening for the $12 million Mike Rose Aquatics Center on Monday, April 17, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the UofM Student Recreation and Sports Complex at 624 Echles St. This one-of-a-kind facility is named in memory of late entrepreneur and philanthropist Mike Rose.

NSF StudentsUofM Biological Sciences Students Awarded Prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowships

Serena Blais and Julia Weil, both University of Memphis graduate students in the Department of Biological Sciences, were selected as 2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows (NSF GRF). They join 2,550 other students awarded this nationally competitive fellowship, out of approximately 13,000 applicants.
