University of Memphis to Hold Spring Commencement May 4

2,858 to Graduate; Tigers Legend and NFL Great Gostkowski to be Speaker

Tuesday, April 30, 2024 — Spring Commencement ceremonies for the University of Memphis will take place Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the FedEx Forum, with 2,858 students receiving a degree or certificate. Of those, 1,722 are students earning an undergraduate degree, while 836 students will be obtaining their master’s or specialist degree. A total of 115 certificates will be handed out, while 102 people will receive their juris doctor and 83 people will earn their doctoral degree.

Former Tigers football player Stephen Gostkowski, who played in the National Football League for 15 seasons, will be the commencement speaker. Gostkowski, who came to the UofM on a baseball scholarship, began his Memphis football career as a walk-on.

Avron B. Fogelman, namesake of the Fogelman College of Business & Economics, the Avron B. Fogelman Center for Professional Career Development and the Fogelman Internship Network, will receive an honorary degree during the afternoon ceremony.

Commencement ceremonies, of which there are three, start at 10 a.m. Saturday:

10:00 a.m. Ceremony
TigerLIFE Completion Academy, College of Communication & Fine Arts (CCFA), College of Health Sciences, Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality & Resort Management, Loewenberg College of Nursing, School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and doctoral and master’s candidates in these areas. 

1:30 p.m. Ceremony
College of Professional & Liberal Studies, Fogelman College of Business & Economics, Herff College of Engineering and doctoral and master’s candidates in these areas. 

5:30 p.m. Ceremony
College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, School of Public Health and doctoral, master's and specialist candidates in these areas.
