Submission Requirements 

Requestors of samples form the Mississippi Embayment Research Center must submit the following documents.

  • A completed Research Proposal Form outlining research objectives, methods, funding, and timeline. 
    • The MERC is committed to not only scientific advancement, but also education and workforce development.
      • To meet this goal the MERC is willing to work with requestors from across disciplines and organizations, from scientists to educators and community members, to develop research proposals that increase our understanding of the Mississippi embayment, as well as projects that may have siginificant societal or economic impact .
  • A completed Sample Request Form
    • The working half/sample is available for research. 
    • The archival half/sample is reserved for non-destructive analysis to preserve record of stratigraphy. 
      • Once the working sample is depleted, archive sampling requires MERC staff approval.
