Biography

Dr. Scott Vann, Assistant Professor of Teaching for the Department of Management of Information Systems in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics at the University of Memphis. Dr. Vann obtained his doctorate in Instructional Design & Technology, as well as a master’s in Management of Information Systems, both from the University of Memphis. His research focus is on gamification-based learning, with a particular emphasis on flow theory. His research has been published in leading instructional design and technology journals, including the Journal of Formative Design in Learning and the Journal of Learner and User Experience Research. Additionally, Dr. Vann has contributed chapters to Open Educational Resource (OER) textbooks. He currently teaches graduate courses such as Business Machine Learning, Web Analytics and Fundamentals of Data Analytics for the MSIS program. Prior to his full-time teaching career, Dr. Vann held various administrative positions within the University of Memphis, most recently as the Director of Digital Learning.
