BBA | Management Information Systems

The undergraduate (BBA) degree with a major in MIS produces graduates who are fully prepared for intermediate-level information systems positions and who have the skill sets for continued career growth. Specific MIS courses included in the undergraduate program cover topics such as programming languages, technology as it relates to computer hardware and system software, methods of analyzing and developing business systems, data management techniques, networking and telecommunications technology and the management of organizational information resources.

BBA+MS | Accelerated Bachelor and Master Program

The Department of MIS offers an Accelerated BBA+MS program to outstanding undergraduate majors in Management Information Systems (BBA). Students accepted into the program may begin coursework for the MS in Information Systems and/or a 4-course Graduate Certificate during their senior year. Students interested in this accelerated program are encouraged to begin planning for it early in their undergraduate careers, in consultation with both their undergraduate advisor and the MS Coordinator of the Department of Management Information Systems.

Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS)

The MSIS degree provides our students with courses that contain the core content of all information systems programs, with the content directed toward managerial-level activities. Courses often use team activities, case studies and real-world projects to focus on the types of knowledge and skills needed for effective management of an organization's communications technologies and its information resources. Specific MIS courses used as a basis for this program include topics such as business database systems, systems analysis and design, data communications and networks, computer hardware and system software and information systems management and planning.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration with concentration in Management Information Systems

The PhD degree with a concentration in MIS focuses primarily on the preparation of new college/university-level faculty, specifically targeting the teaching and research expectations of faculty. Students review the core topics in information systems, with an emphasis on current research related to those topics. These graduate level MIS courses typically contain components in which students review the related research and/or conduct related research and make presentations of results. Specific MIS courses used as a basis for this program include topics such as business database systems, systems analysis and design, data communications and networks, computer hardware and system software and information systems management and planning. Students in this program also take four courses specifically related to research methodology, as well as two courses in research specifically related to the field of information systems.
