About Ashanti Coleman
Dr. Coleman is a Clinical Assistant Professor at LCON Memphis. She has taught Foundations and Geriatric Practicum. Currently, she will be teaching Adult Health lecturer and practicum, along with Health Assessment.
Dr. Coleman received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a concentration in Executive Leadership from Abilene Christian University. Her research focus is Stroke Prevention in African American Women with oral contraceptive use. She received her Master of Nursing from Walden University; and is also a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in Pediatric Primary Care, Retail Health Clinics, Occupational Health, and COVID mobile sites. Dr. Coleman currently works with Humana performing Home Health Risk Assessments for Medicare patients.
She is also an alum of LCON, where she received her foundation in nursing, obtaining her undergraduate degree. Dr. Coleman has nine years of nursing experience in the Emergency Department, Dialysis, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, and Occupational Health.
She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Tennessee Nurse Association, and Greater Memphis Area Association of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Coleman is a volunteer and advocates with the Mid-South American Heart & Stroke Association.
Ashanti is married to her high school sweetheart Brent and has two beautiful children, a teenage daughter and a son. She enjoys spending time with her family, church, movies, shopping, traveling, sporting events, hot yoga, and kickboxing. She is devoted to nurturing and guiding the next generation of nursing leaders to providing safe, quality, evidence-based patient care.
