Academic Programs

BSN Program

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Traditional BSN program provides education and training for pre-licensure nursing students to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and be eligible, upon graduation, to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) required for registered nurse (RN) licensure. Accelerated BSN

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program for students with a bachelor’s degree or higher. The 16-month program begins in the Fall semester and includes one summer term. Graduates of the four-semester, full-time program are eligible to apply for the NCLEX examination for state licensure through the respective state board of nursing. View Sample Curriculum Sheet >

RN to BSN

RN to BSN

An online quality, individualized, and learner-centered program for existing registered nurses who possess a diploma or associate degree in nursing. This 30-credit hour program is 100% online with 7-week courses. View Sample Curriculum Sheet >

FNP Program

RN to MSN

RN to MSN is an admission pathway for licensed registered nurses with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree. Applicants can choose from three MSN concentrations: FNP, Nursing Education, and Nursing Leadership. This option offers a direct route to an MSN degree without requiring all undergraduate nursing courses for a BSN. 

MSN Education

Master of Science in Nursing Education

A 31-credit hour program that prepares the student as a nurse educator to teach in schools of nursing programs and in various health care system settings. Students will learn about nursing and education theories, learning strategies, curricular development, and develop skills in different teaching methodologies. View Sample Curriculum Sheet > 

FNP Program

Master of Science Family Nurse Practitioner

A 40-hour program that prepares advanced practice nurses who deliver primary health care to all ages; individuals and families throughout the lifespan and across the health continuum. Students will be provided with knowledge and clinical skills necessary for health promotion, disease prevention, assessment, and management of common acute and chronic illnesses. Nursing Leadership Icon

Master of Science in Nursing Leadership

A 33-credit hour program that prepares nurses for advanced leadership roles in various healthcare systems. The Nursing Leadership MSN aligns with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Nurse Leader Core Competencies. Sample Curriculum Sheet >

PHD Program

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing

A seven-semester (3.5 years), full-time program offered online. The PhD program prepares nurse researchers, scholars, and educators in academic nursing and/or healthcare settings.

Graduate Certificate

Family Nurse Practitioner Graduate Certificate

This certificate program provides a formal program of study for registered nurses who hold a graduate nursing degree interested in taking the national certification exam to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Nursing Education Graduate Certificate

This certificate program provides a formal program of study for registered nurses who hold a graduate nursing degree to obtain a credential allowing them to teach across various healthcare settings. Students will learn about nursing and educational theories, learning strategies, curricular development, program planning and evaluation, and develop skills in different teaching methodologies. 

Graduate Certificate

Nursing Leadership Graduate Certificate

This certificate program provides a formal program of study for registered nurses who hold a graduate nursing degree to obtain a credential for advanced leadership roles in various healthcare setting systems. The Nursing Leadership certificate aligns with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Nurse Leader Core Competencies.

 


Distance Education Licensure/Certification Requirements Disclosure

Many educational programs offered by the University of Memphis lead to professional licensure within the State of Tennessee and in other states. Students should be aware that licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state and are subject to change. Licensing agencies or boards also may have requirements in addition to an earned degree.

The University of Memphis has not made a determination whether University of Memphis’s programs will meet all of the licensure and certification requirements in each US state or territory. The University of Memphis recommends that students who are not Tennessee residents or who plan to seek licensure or certification outside the state of Tennessee contact the appropriate licensing agency or board prior to enrollment in an academic program designed to lead to licensure or certification and discuss their plans with an advisor.
