
Dr. Amy Rine Wake joined the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) in the fall of 2023 as a Clinical Assistant Professor. After completing her PhD in December of 2023, she transitioned to tenure track faculty as an Assistant Professor in the fall of 2024. Dr. Wake brought two decades of experience in nursing education to LCON.
Dr. Wake has a background in community and community-based nursing as well as nursing education. Additionally, she focused her PhD work on the care of communities and populations.
Dr. Wake worked on research and with research teams that focused on issues like sexual health and sexual health education for youth 15-24, the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems among Appalachian youth, and nursing intent to stay following COVID. Additionally, Dr. Wake conducted research on ACT scores as indicators of success in community college nursing students as well as assisting with datat collection and analysis for local Achieving the Dream participants. She also participated in a weekly transdisciplinary phenominological research group to assist qualitative researchers with data analysis.
Dr. Wake plans to further her research in community health, nursing education, and the intersection of both along with outcomes for rural and urban populations.
