Business Support Services
Physical Plant performs a wide variety of services to all facets of the University. Charges are applied dependent upon the type of work and the requesting department.
Educational and General includes academic and administrative departments; such as Math, English, Psychology, Police Services and Accounting. Educational and general activities are not charged for maintenance and repairs; however, improvements and upgrades to facilities are charged to all departments. Repairs to departmental equipment are also charged to the owner department.
Auxiliary Enterprises are profit centers for the University. These include Residence Life, Food Services, Bookstore, Vending, etc. These departments are charged for all services.

The University of Memphis currently owns several homes in the immediate area of the campus. These homes are available for new faculty, existing faculty, visiting faculty, staff and students. To inquire about homes that might be available, please fill out an application at www.memphis.edu/rentals and someone will contact you when a home that meets your criteria becomes available. Applicants on the priority waiting list will have the first opportunity to lease a home from the University.

Central Receiving provides limited warehousing of bulk supplies, receives, inspects and redelivers purchases that are not installed by supplier. This office is responsible for maintaining an inventory of maintenance and repair materials and maintaining the University surplus program.
