University of Memphis Becomes the West Hub of the Tennessee Dementia ECHO
June 4, 2025 - The Tennessee Dementia ECHO Program has broadened its educational offerings by launching a West Hub at the University of Memphis, aiming to equip providers across Tennessee with best practices in dementia care.
The Tennessee ECHO Dementia Program is a unique initiative that offers healthcare providers the resources to deliver high-quality care to patients with dementia and related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. This format connects providers statewide, offering regional networks, direct access to dementia specialists, and opportunities to engage in real-world case discussions.
Dr. Ashish Joshi, the Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Memphis is the program facilitator for the West Hub. Dr. Kallol Bhattacharyya serves as the Subject Matter Expert for the hub's sessions. The program has a series of 10 virtual training sessions and workshops, featuring leading experts in geriatric medicine, neurology and dementia care.
The Tennessee ECHO Dementia Program offers ongoing virtual learning sessions for healthcare providers who care for older adults with dementia. These sessions help providers problem solve, brainstorm, and share best practices with a network of medical professionals across West, East, and Middle Tennessee. Project ECHO aims to improve health outcomes and reduce geographic barriers and care costs through a team-based approach. The program’s goal is to build a network of healthcare professionals to normalize early screening, manage dementia as a chronic condition with a comprehensive care pathway, and implement appropriate care and support to improve the lives of Tennesseans.
