Memphis City Councilmember Yolanda Cooper-Sutton Visits the UofM School of Public Health
June 12, 2025 - Yolanda Cooper-Sutton, Councilmember for Super District 8-3, visited with Dean Ashish Joshi, Ken Moody, Executive Director for the UofM Governmental and Community Affairs and Steve Shular, UofM School of Public Health (SPH) Community Outreach Representative, for a luncheon at the UofM SPH.
During the luncheon, Councilmember Sutton was briefed about the SPH curriculum and how it can serve citizens in her district of south Memphis and other nearby neighborhoods. She was also interested about how the SPH could forge a relationship with a south Memphis area high school to establish a public health club for students. Preliminary discussions were also held about a community event that would seek suggestions from citizens about specific public health challenges unique to their communities and how they could best be solved.
