Dr. Kibaru-Mbae Joins SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group

September 8, 2025 - Dr. Josephine Kibaru-Mbae, OGW has joined the University of Memphis SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group, which brings together global health leaders, diplomats and policy experts dedicated to advancing the intersection of public health and international relations. Dr. Kibaru-Mbae is a reproductive health expert, obstetrician/gynecologist, and public health practitioner with over 30 years of leadership experience in health and development. She has served in senior roles nationally and regionally, including as Director of Family Health at Kenya’s Ministry of Health, Director General of the Commonwealth Regional Health Secretariat (ECSA-HC), and Director General of the Kenya National Council for Population and Development (NCPD). At ECSA-HC, she spearheaded a regional Public Health Diplomacy initiative, fostering collaboration across 11 countries.

Dr. Kibaru -Mbae has been a driving force in shaping health policy, advocacy, and cross-sectoral partnerships, with a strong focus on reproductive health and population development. Her leadership has inspired reforms that strengthened health systems and expanded access to care in East and Southern Africa. Currently, she works as an independent consultant and is deeply committed to coaching and mentoring the next generation of women leaders in health.

Dr. Josephine Kibaru-Mbae, OGW
