Dr. Murgasampillay Joins SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group

September 8, 2025 - Dr. Sivakumaran (“Shiva”) Murgasampillay MB.BS, MSc. Community Health, MSc. Tropical MedicineMZCPHP, FECSA-COPHP,  has joined the University of Memphis SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group, which brings together global health leaders, diplomats and policy experts dedicated to advancing the intersection of public health and international relations.

Dr. Murgasampillay is a global public health physician with over 40 years of experience in strengthening health systems at district, national, regional and international levels. He has served in senior leadership roles within the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care. His expertise spans communicable and non-communicable disease prevention, public health leadership and governance, policy and guideline development and workforce capacity building through competency-based training. Dr. Murgasampillay is recognized for his contributions to public health diplomacy, primary health care, and fostering South-South and North-South collaborations between ministries of health, universities and public health institutions. Through education, training, and applied research, he continues to champion universal and integrated public health service delivery.
