UofM SPH Welcomes Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) Interim Director at Speaker Series

The University of Memphis School of Public Health (UofM SPH) welcomed Bruce W. Randolph, MD, MPH, Interirm Director and Health Officer, at the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD), as part of its (SCHD) Speaker Series events.

During his presentation, Dr. Randolph presented an overview of the social determinants of health in the Shelby County community, based on location and poverty levels, and how those factors impact life expectancy, infant mortality, substance use, homicide rates, the rise in HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) as well as other critical issues facing the Shelby County community. He also highlighted some of the measures and programming SCHD is conducting to create positive health outcomes for the community through its strategic initiatives, task forces and communications. 

The School of Public Health would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Randolph for his informative presentation and looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the Shelby County Health Department.
