of Schools of Public Health

Thursday, 19 March 2026
The University of Memphis School of Public Health (UofM SPH) and the Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA) have agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance Public Health
initiatives between ASPHA and UofM SPH. This marks the first MOU established between
the University of Memphis School of Public Health and a regional association of schools
of public health.
This collaborative resource hub will advance artificial intelligence (AI) in public
health, leveraging digital health and population health informatics. Continuing education
initiatives of Public Health in Action, public health innovations, Public Health Hackathon
series and the expansion of Public Health Clubs in high schools will occur through
this partnership as well as foster engagement in public health diplomacy. Experiential
learning opportunities will enable students to build their portfolios, furthering
their academic and scholarly careers globally.
A central pillar of this MOU is Public Health in Action, an online, continuing education
initiative designed for students from around the world who are interested in exploring
the cutting edge of health, science and innovation, to build thriving communities.
This MOU will also provide individuals with the opportunity to connect and collaborate
with peers and public health experts around the world, gaining cultural understanding
and building networks across borders.
