UofM SPH Launches New Master of Public Health Concentrations

Programs and Concentrations 

• Generalist affords a fundamental understanding of the community, healthcare and government landscape coupled with electives to specialize in public health policy, healthcare administration, interventions design and survey methods.  
• Urban Health track prepares public health professionals to understand and address the complex health challenges facing urban populations. Students will build the skills to assess urban environments, promote healthy communities and create sustainable solutions for healthier cities. 
• Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) track prepares public health leaders who understand how social, behavioral and cultural factors influence health and health disparities. Students will gain the skills to design, evaluate and implement programs and policies that promote health equity and improve populations and communities. 
• New: Epidemiology and Biostatistics concentration, students will develop skills in designing and conducting epidemiologic surveys, analyzing complex public health data, and applying advanced epidemiologic methods to public health practice and research in chronic diseases, cancer and infectious diseases. 
• New: Environmental and Occupational Health concentration students will learn to identify, measure, and evaluate risks posed by chemical, biological, physical, ergonomic and safety hazards, preparing them to respond to emerging threats at the intersection of workplace safety, environmental crises, and public health policy.
