Public Health on Wheels Takes SPH Students on Journey to the Hospitality Hub
Monday, 19 October 2026
Led by Community Relations Manager Su Hartline, students walked through the facility and learned how their public health education translates into real-world impact through community-focused spaces like the Hospitality Hub.
The Hub was founded in 2007 by the Downtown Churches Association. Since its inception, the organization has built a professional team that works tirelessly alongside each guest to navigate a dedicated path out of homelessness.
In 2022, the Hub opened a new campus at 590 Washington Avenue, significantly expanding its capacity to serve and shelter those in need. This facility includes the Hub Hotel, a barrier-free emergency shelter for women and children, as well as 10 Hub Studios, which provide non-congregate shelter for individuals who might face barriers accessing traditional shelters.
The Hospitality Hub offers a vast array of services rooted in a holistic approach to helping people successfully exit homelessness. In addition to housing support, the organization operates heating and cooling centers, provides temporary employment opportunities and runs outreach and food assistance programs.
The School of Public Health would like to thank the Hospitality Hub for showing our students how public health translates to careers that can make life changing impacts on vulnerable populations.
