University of Memphis (UMRF) Research Park Welcomes Corami Biotech and IAAIR to Expanding Innovation Ecosystem
New partnerships in cardiac biotechnology and applied artificial intelligence strengthen the University’s role as a hub for transformative research and global impact
The University of Memphis UMRF Research Park proudly announces the addition of two
pioneering organizations—Corami Biotech and the Institute of Applied Artificial Intelligence
and Robotics (IAAIR)—to its growing innovation ecosystem. Built on a 60-year legacy
of connecting community and knowledge at the site of Memphis’ first public library
branch, the park was established by the University’s FedEx Institute of Technology
as a center for creative empowerment and emerging innovation. Today, the 10,000-square-foot
global flex campus supports research-driven collaboration and enables impactful public-private
partnerships.
Corami Biotech
Corami Biotech is advancing a novel platform for targeted cardiac therapeutic delivery, addressing one of the most persistent challenges in medicine. With cardiovascular disease remaining the leading cause of death in the United States—claiming more than 700,000 lives annually—Corami’s approach introduces intra-pericardial delivery as a new route for localized, controlled-release treatment directly to the heart. This innovation has the potential to transform how therapies, including gene-based treatments, are delivered, overcoming the limitations and risks of systemic dosing.

IAAIR joins the park with a mission to develop trustworthy, applied artificial intelligence systems that address global challenges. The institute focuses on domain-specific small foundation models, AI infrastructure, and robotics to translate advanced research into real-world solutions. Its flagship initiative, OpenAg, is creating an open agricultural intelligence ecosystem designed to democratize access to agricultural data and foster transparent, collaborative AI for farmers and researchers worldwide. Through partnerships with global universities, nonprofits, and industry leaders, IAAIR is advancing innovation while ensuring AI remains accessible, ethical, and impactful.
