Mid-South Momentum: AI Leaders Convene to Shape the Region's Future

On August 27, leaders from across academia, industry, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, technology, and government will gather at the FedEx Institute of Technology for the 3rd Annual AI + Cybersecurity Conference (AICC2026) to explore how AI is being implemented today and where it is headed next.
Hosted by the FedEx Institute of Technology and 901 AI at the University of Memphis, this year's conference embraces the theme "Mid-South Momentum," highlighting the region's growing role as a national center for artificial intelligence research, innovation, and commercialization. The program will showcase practical AI applications, resilient infrastructure, responsible innovation, and the strategic partnerships fueling economic growth across Tennessee and the Mid-South.
The conference will feature Kristin Darby, Chief Information Officer for the State of Tennessee, as both the opening and closing keynote speaker. A nationally recognized technology executive, Darby will share insights on AI adoption, technology leadership, and the opportunities shaping Tennessee's innovation economy.
Throughout the day, attendees will hear from experts representing the University of Memphis, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, industry innovators, and regional technology leaders as they examine some of today's most pressing AI topics. Sessions will explore the deployment of agentic AI, responsible implementation of autonomous systems, AI in healthcare and other regulated industries, next-generation infrastructure, and the growing role of intelligent technologies in logistics, manufacturing, agriculture, and supply chain operations.
