The University of Memphis: a Global Institution

The Division of International Affairs is the center for activities that connect the University of Memphis to the global community of students, scholars, and researchers. UofM is proud to host students from all over the world, with over 1,700 individuals representing 88 countries in our student body. Our international students and scholars excel in their fields of study, contribute to research and innovation, and help make our city a diverse and inclusive community.

DIA leads international recruitment efforts and supports international students from the time they are admitted through graduation and practical training. Our active Study Abroad program gives domestic students unparalleled opportunities for cross-cultural learning experiences, and the Intensive English for Internationals program gives students the language skills they need to be successful at school or in their careers.

In its 2023-28 strategic plan, the University of Memphis enshrined the vision to be a nationally recognized public research university that addresses the community and society’s greatest challenges. International partnerships create opportunities to magnify the impact of research and raise UofM’s profile around the world. DIA encourages and assists faculty and staff as they engage with colleagues and institutions abroad and helps foreign researchers find partners at UofM.

So whether you are a current UofM student, a faculty member, a student exploring education opportunities in the U.S., or a researcher seeking to collaborate with a top-tier research institution, you will find valuable information on this site. Welcome!

[Under this will be a dashboard with icons showing number of international students (pending for 2024), number of countries represented, number of students doing study abroad (174 in AY2023-24), and eventually a number of international partnerships]

[Under that will be some short descriptions with photos of two or three international collaborations]
