Why did you choose the University of Memphis?
I selected the University of Memphis for my doctoral program after participating in the Department of Leadership’s Center for Urban School Leadership Fellows program under the leadership of Dr. Reginald Green. The program and the department spoke to my needs and aspirations to build a career in educational leadership.
What is a meaningful memory from your time at UofM?
During my doctoral studies, our cohort met at the Millington Campus, and we became great colleagues and supporters of each other during our studies. Many of those relationships remain today.
How did UofM help prepare you for your career?
The professors in the Department of Leadership believed in the work we were doing in our schools and helped develop us into the best leaders we could be for our school communities. We were provided with tools to become strong instructional leaders and transform schools.
What advice would you give current College of Education students?
You have chosen a profession that has the capacity to change lives, and the teaching profession is a gift of service. Always remember your “why” and strive to be the educator that every child deserves.
