OTECP Announces Residency Winners for September 2025
September 29, 2025 - The College of Education (COE) Office of Teacher Education and Clinical Practice (OTECP) is proud to announce the recipients of Student Teacher, Mentor Teacher and Supervisor of the Month for September 2025: Jalice Sargent, John Rawson and Jennifer Bubrig.
“Being named Student Teacher of the Month is such an incredible honor and a meaningful milestone in my journey as an educator,” Sargent said. “This recognition reminds me that the hard work, late nights and dedication I put into supporting my students are truly making a difference. It motivates me to keep learning, growing and striving to create a positive impact in every classroom I am a part of.”
Rawson, a teacher for 31 years, is in his first year as a mentor teacher at Donelson
Elementary in the Arlington School District.
“She does an excellent job of encouraging struggling students with positive praise for specific skills they are working on and redirects with firm yet positive phrases,” Rawson said about his mentee. “It brings a smile to a seasoned teacher’s face to see a future teacher so quickly keep students motivated and on task. What an honor to be recognized as Mentor Teacher. It is always an honor to help teachers beginning their careers and see them grow.”

“My work is truly one of the greatest privileges of my life both personally and professionally, and I’ve never taken it for granted,” Bubrig said. “Our residency program is designed to provide teacher candidates with meaningful opportunities to grow and thrive in every aspect of teaching, from instructional practice to professionalism. Guiding and supporting our candidates through this journey is not only an honor but also an incredibly rewarding experience.”
