The University of Memphis College of Education (COE) has finalized agreements with 14 school and district partners for the 2026–27 academic year, supporting opportunities for teacher candidates to complete field experiences, internships and residencies across West Tennessee.
The College’s three new partnerships with Hardeman County, Henderson County and Perea School provide placements that support students at both the Memphis and Lambuth campuses.
The College’s three new partnerships with Hardeman County, Henderson County and Perea School provide placements that support students at both the Memphis and Lambuth campuses.
Students from UofM Lambuth are completing placements in Henderson and Hardeman counties. In Memphis, the new charter school partnership with Perea allows Integrated Early Childhood majors to complete their daycare and pre-K–third grade placements in the same building.
The College also continues its partnerships with Arlington Community Schools, Bartlett City Schools, Collierville Municipal, Germantown Municipal, Gestalt Schools, Jackson-Madison County School System, Lakeland School District, Memphis Business Academy, Millington Municipal and University Schools. Memphis-Shelby County Schools serves as the College’s primary partner.
Together, these partnerships reflect COE’s commitment to working alongside schools, families and communities to prepare educators who can meet the needs of their students.
Teacher candidates gain experience in urban, suburban and rural communities, connecting their coursework with classroom practice through field experiences, pre-residency and clinical teaching. The College collaborates with its partners to develop placements that support candidates’ preparation while contributing to the schools where they learn.
These experiences build on the College’s residency model, which combines coursework with immersive teaching practice. By learning alongside experienced educators, candidates develop instructional skills and a deeper understanding of the communities they will serve.
The partnerships support the preparation of future teachers while strengthening the College’s connections with schools throughout West Tennessee.
