River City Partnership senior scholars celebrate Signing Day commitments

River City Partnership senior scholars commit to future careers in education through Signing Day partnerships with Memphis-area schools.
Friday, 15 May 2026 - University of Memphis College of Education River City Partnership senior scholars celebrated Signing Day commitments with Memphis-Shelby County Schools and Gestalt Community Schools as they prepare for future careers in education.
The University of Memphis College of Education (COE) recently celebrated River City Partnership (RCP) senior scholars during Signing Day, recognizing students who committed to future careers in education through contracts with Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) and Gestalt Community Schools.
The RCP is a collaborative initiative between the COE, Memphis-Shelby County Schools, local charter schools and community partners focused on preparing culturally competent educators to serve Memphis-area schools. Through scholarships, mentorship, classroom experiences and community engagement, RCP supports future educators as they prepare to make an impact in local classrooms.
The following RCP senior scholars participated in Signing Day commitments:
• Makaiya Battles — The Soulsville Charter School (MSCS) • Camille Clippinger — White Station Elementary (MSCS) • Antionette Conway • Juliana Francisco — Power Center Academy (Gestalt) • Kayla Garner — White Station Elementary (MSCS) • JaBria McCraney — Belle Forest Elementary (MSCS)
The event celebrated the scholars’ dedication, hard work and commitment to serving Memphis students and communities through education.
RCP provides students with opportunities for mentorship, professional development and classroom-based experiences while helping address the need for highly prepared educators in Memphis schools.
The College of Education congratulates these scholars as they begin the next chapter of their journeys as future educators serving Memphis classrooms and communities.
