Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis.
Electrical and Computer Engineering is an extraordinary field because it empowers you to move beyond simply using today’s technology to building and defining the innovations of tomorrow. As our world becomes more interconnected, automated, and digitally driven, the discipline has never been more vital. I am incredibly proud of the supportive, dynamic, and forward-thinking community we have built here to prepare our students for this exciting future.
Whether you are entering as a freshman or pursuing advanced research as a graduate student, you will find a home here. Our faculty are dedicated to your growth and will engage you in meaningful, real-world projects throughout your journey. One of the strengths of our department is the freedom to chart your own path. You can build a broad foundation in electrical and computer engineering or pursue deeper specialization in cutting-edge areas such as biomedical systems, novel sensors and systems technologies, computational imaging, smart energy grids, intelligent systems, and artificial intelligence. For students eager to advance more quickly, accelerated opportunities such as our fast track to a master’s degree provide additional pathways.
