Financial Aid Processing Timeline 2021-2022

Your attention to this timeline will help to ensure your aid is processed prior to your first day of class.

New Freshmen/New Transfer Students

  • October - Complete the FAFSA online for the 2021-2022 academic year (includes Fall 2021, Spring 2022 and Summer 2022). As soon as you complete your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U.S. Department of Education. The SAR is basically the preliminary results of your FAFSA. Read this carefully as it may include important information about your FAFSA in case there was an error or additional information is needed.
  • November and December -  Monitor your UofM email as well as your myMemphis account regularly. Once we load your FAFSA and begin reviewing eligibility for the upcoming year, we will post alerts to your myMemphis account and send email notifications to your UofM email. Submit all requested items EARLY to ensure MAXIMUM consideration for financial aid. Some aid is very limited and awarded on a first come, first serve basis. After submitting any requested items, continue to monitor your myMemphis account and UofM email for alerts in case we need additional information.
  • January - View your Financial Aid Award for Fall 2021 on myMemphis by clicking the Student Pages tab and then My Finances. If necessary, change award years by choosing the Award Information by Year option. The Student Requirements section will indicate if you are missing any financial aid documents for a particular award year.
NOTE: The priority deadline to submit ALL required documents for the Fall term is April 1.
  • March/April - Review your award information available on myMemphis. You can elect to 'Accept,' 'Accept Partial,' or 'Decline' any awards offered to you
  • June - Check to be sure you have done everything you are supposed to do for the Fall 2021 semester. Have you submitted all missing documents?
  • July - You are LATE in applying for financial aid and/or submitting required documents.
  • August - You are EXTREMELY LATE in applying for Financial Aid and/or submitting required documents. Your aid may not be processed by the fall fee payment deadline. You may need to cover your own fees until such time that your aid can be processed.
