Health Insurance Options

International Students

The University of Memphis has contracted with Wellfleet to provide a comprehensive health insurance option for our international students (both undergraduate and graduate). This is an ACA compliant (Affordable Care Act) plan and provides annual coverage. All international students (holding F or J visas) are automatically enrolled in the Wellfleet system upon registering for classes each semester and fees are posted to your tiger express account. For more information visit: https://www.memphis.edu/iss/insurance/

Full-Time Graduate Assistants

All full-time graduate assistants receive 100% coverage of the annual graduate student health insurance premium if they do not have other ACA compliant coverage. Please visit our Graduate Assistantship Health Benefits webpage for details: https://www.memphis.edu/gradschool/current_students/graduate_assistantship_health_benefits.php

Part-Time Graduate Assistants

The University of Memphis is unable to provide health insurance benefits for part-time graduate assistants.
However, the University of Memphis has partnered with Church Health Center to offer the Memphis Plan to part-time domestic graduate assistants.

The MEMPHIS Plan is NOT INSURANCE. It is a healthcare ministry of the Church Health Center, comprised of volunteer physicians and donated medical services. MEMPHIS Plan is available only to those part-time graduate assistants who do not currently have medical insurance.

To get started, please visit Church Health MEMPHIS Plan for information about he programs and learn on how to enroll as a MP Direct participant. The cost is $50 per month; dependents are and additional $25 per month.
