Letter from Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Deborah Perron Tollefsen
Welcome to the Graduate School at the University of Memphis! The graduate school exists to help departments sustain and develop high quality graduate programs, share best practices, support the advancement of graduate students, nurture career development, and foster a positive culture for the next generation of scholars and professionals. We work with student life, health services, international student services, and our office of career development to enhance student experience and prepare students for success.
Pursuing a graduate education is an investment in your future and there is no better investment than the University of Memphis. We are a national leader in innovative graduate education, producing diverse and highly skilled scholars and professionals who are making positive contributions to their local and global communities.
At the University of Memphis, you will learn from and work with nationally and internationally recognized scholars whose connections to corporate partners and academic colleagues will extend your research and employment opportunities. You will learn by doing, through various unique internships, research projects, and professional learning opportunities. You will build life-long connections with your academic peers and your professors.
We recognize that graduate school is a tremendous commitment of time, energy, and finances. Many of you will pursue a graduate degree while working full-time, raising a family, serving in the military or caring for extended family. That is why we focus on offering outstanding programs that are affordable and flexible.
The graduate school at the University of Memphis is here to help on your academic journey from admissions to graduation. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
