Department of Psychology Initiatives (PMEP)

Under the direction of Dr. Kathryn Howell, Department of Psychology, the overarching goal of the project is to evaluate the Pregnant Moms' Empowerment Program (PMEP), which is aimed at improving maternal mental health, reducing re-victimization, enhancing parenting sensitivity, and strengthening infant development. The project also seeks to examine mechanisms of change, including social support and empowerment. Women participating in the study will be interviewed at baseline, post-intervention and when their infants are 3 months and 12 months old.
