About Dr. Hearne
Dr. Deundra Hearne is an Assistant Professor at Loewenberg College of Nursing. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education and Administration (2020) and Master of Science in Nursing Education from William Carey University (2017), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women (2012), and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Holmes Community College (2009).
Dr. Hearne teaches in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and has over 10 years of experience in the areas of medical-surgical, cardiac-telemetry, and long-term acute care. She holds national certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl). She is also a certified American Heart Association BLS instructor.
Her research interests center on nursing workforce development and nurse faculty workforce development. Other research interests include social determinants of education, nursing education, recruitment and retention of minority students, and recruitment and retention of minority nursing faculty.
Dr. Hearne’s professional memberships include Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Nurses Association/Arkansas Nurses Association, and the National League for Nursing. She is currently a participant in the National League for Nursing 2021 National Leadership Institute LEAD Program.
