STRONG-RN Scholars End of the Year Celebration with Special Guest and Recognition
STRONG-RN scholars gathered for a final celebration in a meaningful conclusion to the semester, marking their achievements and milestones. The STRONG-RNs program, renowned for its dedication to supporting and retaining nursing students from economically or socially disadvantaged backgrounds, received well-deserved recognition.
The celebration included recognizing the dedicated efforts of Dr. Eric Bailey, Assistant Vice President of Student Academic Success at the University of Memphis, and Chermale Casem, Executive Assistant Dean of Finance, Operations, and Strategic Initiatives at UTHSC for their collaborative grant-writing endeavors that initially secured the significant $3.24 million, five-year grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in 2020. Moreover, the current Project Director and Associate Dean for Student Success, Dr. Jeremy Whittaker remains committed to ensuring the program's sustainability and impact through the customized innovative wraparound support programming model in partnership with STS Enterprise Corporation that has transcended student success efforts and rates for program participants.
A highlight of the event was a captivating etiquette class led by esteemed guest speaker Dr. Kanesha L. Moore, a Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Moore's engaging presentation provided valuable insights and skills, enriching the students' educational journey.
The STRONG-RNs program stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and commitment in fostering diversity and inclusivity within the nursing profession. As the semester draws to a close, the RN Scholars reflect on their accomplishments with pride and look ahead to continued success in the future.
