Public health diplomacy in an era of complexity, uncertainty, and unpredictability: perspectives from a YFG–ASPHER workshop

On July 26, 2026,  the public health paper “Public health diplomacy in an era of complexity, uncertainty, and unpredictability: perspectives from a YFG–ASPHER workshop.” was published in Frontiers, publisher of peer-reviewed open access journals.

Dean Ashish Joshi from the University of Memphis School of Public Health co authored this paper with contributors from Young Forum Gastein, European Health Forum Gastein, Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), Comprehensive Health Research Center, National School of Public Health, NOVA University Lisbon, World Health Organization Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, European Commission,  Digital Society Initiative, University of Zurich, and Association of Schools of Public Health in European Region (ASPHER).

The authors conclude that incorporating diplomatic training into public health education, creating more inclusive decision-making processes, and empowering young professionals to take active leadership roles are essential for strengthening global cooperation and improving population health outcomes.
