SPH To Kick Off First Dean’s Grand Rounds of the Semester with Rutgers SPH Dean Dr. Perry N Halkitis

During the event Dr. Halkitis will speak with SPH Dean and Distinguished Professor, Dr. Ashish Joshi, PhD, MBBS, MPH about humanizing the future of public health and lessons health professionals can learn from COVID-19, HIV, and other Pandemics.
Perry N. Halkitis, PhD, MS, MPH, is an infectious disease epidemiologist, applied statistician, and public health psychologist with over 30 years of experience in infectious diseases, health disparities in marginalized sexual, gender, racial, ethnic and cultural populations.
Dr. Halkitis is Founder and Director of the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) and Professor Emeritus at New York University. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and six books, including his latest book, Humanizing Public Health: How Disease-Centered Approaches Have Failed Us. He is an elected Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, the Society of Behavioral Medicine, the American Epidemiological Society, the National Academy of Practice, the European Academy of Translational Medicine, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and five divisions of the American Psychological Association. He actively disseminates his work through television, radio, podcasts, print media, and other public platforms. Dr. Halkitis holds degrees in applied statistics epidemiology, biopsychology, and education/human learning and served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health from 2023 to 2024.
The Dean's Grand Rounds is a regular speaker series that brings regional, national, and global public health experts to campus for conversations that explore emerging trends, healthcare leadership, global health and critical population health challenges like pandemics and social drivers of health.
