About Dr. Eric Bailey II

Eric Bailey II currently serves as the Senior Associate Vice Provost for Student Academic Success at the University of Memphis. He provides direct administrative and programmatic oversight for the following departments: Academic Advising Center, Center for Academic Success & Achievement, Disability Resources for Students, Office of Professional & Academic Testing Services, Peer Power Institute, TRIO and Upward Bound. In this role, he also provides administrative support to the Center for Athletic Academic Services.

Dr. Bailey received the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (Business/Music Business) degree from the University Memphis, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Keller Graduate School of Management, and Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) from the University of Memphis in Higher & Adult Education Leadership. He has worked in higher education for 14+ years holding positions in Admissions, Academic Advising/Counseling, Athletic Advising/Mentoring, Career Services, and Multicultural Affairs. In 2017, he accepted the role of Assistant Dean of Nursing Students for the Loewenberg College of Nursing where he served at the college’s Chief Student Affairs Officer by leading recruitment, admissions, advising, tutoring, engagement, and diversity initiatives for 1,100+ students on the Memphis and Lambuth campus. He also became the inaugural Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s College of Pharmacy before returning to the University of Memphis as Assistant Vice President for Student Academic Success.

He has received over $3 million in grants to support students’ success, has served on 10+ dissertation committees, and has made 25+ presentations at national and/or regional conferences. Dr. Bailey served 3-years as faculty mentor for SASCA/NASPA Region III’s New Professional Institute (NPI), and was selected as NPI Director for 2026-2027. He is an Affiliate Faculty member for the Department of Higher Education within the College of Education at the University of Memphis. Professional affiliations include: SACSA, NASPA, and Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc.
