Mellon Humanities Internship Program
The Mellon Humanities Internship Program (MHIP) supports a transformative, paid internship program for undergraduate majors in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. The program helps address critical barriers that students, particularly those from underrepresented groups, face in securing high-quality internships. By providing essential support services, MHIP empowers students to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and enhance their career prospects. New MHIP Cohorts are selected each fall, spring, and summer. In total, up to 145 students will be chosen each year to participate in paid internships primarily at non-profit and community organizations.
The Mellon Humanities Internship Program supports:
- Paid Internships: · More than 100 students a year will have the chance to gain real-world experience through paid internships, mostly at non-profit and community organizations.
- Wraparound Support: Students are eligible to receive assistance with transportation and professional attire. They may also request support for child or elder care to ensure they can focus on their internships.
- Faculty Development: Provides resources for developing new courses and conducting career guidance sessions, ensuring they can provide the best support to students.
