How the Process Works
Post the Position
Create an employer account on Handshake and post your internship. Be sure to label it by semester (e.g., "Summer 2026 Internship")
Get StartedSelect & Interview
Review student applicants and coordinate with MHIP staff to confirm student eligibility before scheduling interviews.
Post a JobOnboard & Mentor
Once an offer is extended, we initiate onboarding. You provide the site supervision and a learning-focused environment.

A transformative internships goes beyond clerical tasks. We ask our partners to provide:
- Meaningful Work: Assign projects that contribute to your mission and allow students to apply their research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Regular Mentorship: Designate a site supervisor for consistent check-ins and professional guidance.
- Commitment to Growth: Help students align their work with the NACE Career Readiness Competencies, including Professionalism, Teamwork, and Critical Thinking.
