Jordan Lins, Au.D., Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Jordan Lins, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist and Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Memphis, where she directs the Adult Language, Cognition, and Communication (ALC²) Lab. Dr. Lins began her academic training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a B.S. in Psychology. She subsequently earned a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, and a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of South Alabama.

 

Dr. Lins's research interests center on adult reading and acquired neurogenic communication disorders. Her work examines reading and communication in neurotypical adults and individuals with aphasia, alexia, and other acquired communication disorders. She is particularly interested in how reading fluency, including prosody, interacts with cognitive processes to support reading comprehension across adult populations. Her research incorporates behavioral and acoustical methods, with emerging work using eye-tracking to investigate reading processes in real time.

 

As a speech-language pathologist, Dr. Lins has worked across a variety of clinical settings and with diverse clinical populations. She has a particular clinical interest in working with adults with aphasia and alexia, as well as individuals with acquired motor speech disorders. Her clinical experiences contribute to her broader goal of conducting research that addresses meaningful challenges faced by adults with acquired communication disorders.
